CTET February 2026 Answer Key, Cut Off Marks and Result Date
Answer sheets stacked after the CTET February 2026 exam as candidates await the official answer key and cut off marks.
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) February 2026 session has concluded without any major issues. Conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the exam took place on February 7 and 8 at centres across India.
Lakhs of candidates appeared for Paper 1 (classes 1 to 5) or Paper 2 (classes 6 to 8), or both. Reports from various cities suggest the papers were moderate in difficulty, with a mix of straightforward and analytical questions. Now, attention has turned to the official answer key.
Unofficial Keys Give Early Estimates
Soon after each shift ended, coaching centres, subject experts and education channels released unofficial answer keys. Many candidates quickly matched their responses and arrived at rough scores some in the 70s, others in the 80s or even low 90s.
These unofficial versions are helpful for an immediate sense of how one performed. However, they are prepared based on memory and available question papers, so minor errors are possible. Different sources sometimes disagree on a few questions.
Past experience shows that unofficial marks and final official marks usually differ by 2 to 5 marks. Occasionally the gap is larger if certain questions turn controversial.
When Will CBSE Release the Official Answer Key?
As of mid-February 2026, the official answer key has not been uploaded yet. Based on previous cycles, CBSE generally releases it within 20 to 25 days of the exam. That points to a likely release in the last week of February or early March.
The key, along with candidates’ recorded responses, will be available on the official website ctet.nic.in. Candidates can log in with their roll number and date of birth to download both.
Objection Window After Provisional Key
Once the provisional answer key is out, CBSE opens a short window – usually three to five days – for raising objections. If a candidate believes an answer is wrong or a question is faulty, they can submit a challenge online.
Each objection requires a fee (around ₹1,000 per question in recent cycles, though the exact amount is announced with the key). Supporting proof or explanation must be provided. An expert panel reviews all valid objections. Accepted challenges lead to changes in the final key, and the fee is refunded.
Sometimes questions are dropped entirely if found ambiguous, and all candidates get marks for those.
Qualifying Marks Remain Unchanged
The minimum marks needed to clear CTET have stayed the same for years:
- General category candidates need 60 per cent, which works out to 90 marks out of 150.
- SC, ST, OBC and differently-abled candidates need 55 per cent, or roughly 82-83 marks.
There is no negative marking, so only correct answers count. The certificate, once obtained, is valid for a lifetime, making it easier for teachers to apply for jobs over the years.

Candidates scoring in the high 80s or low 90s according to unofficial keys have good reason to feel confident, especially in the general category. Those near the cut-off should wait for the official key before drawing conclusions.
Why Marks Can Change Slightly
It is common for final scores to differ from unofficial estimates. Errors in unofficial solutions, bonus marks for dropped questions, or accepted objections can push scores up or down.
In recent CTET cycles, some candidates gained 3-4 marks after objections were upheld. Others lost a couple due to corrected answers. The variation is usually small and evens out for most people.

Result Declaration Timeline
After the objection period ends and challenges are reviewed, CBSE prepares the final answer key and marksheets. Results are typically announced four to six weeks after the exam.
For the February session, this means results are likely in March or early April 2026. The exact date will be notified on the website. Scorecards can be downloaded from the same portal; no physical copies are sent.
Why CTET Matters for Teaching Jobs
Clearing CTET is mandatory for teaching positions in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and many other central government schools. Several state governments and private institutions also prefer or require it.
With teacher vacancies announced regularly across states, a valid CTET certificate opens doors to recruitment drives in primary and upper-primary sections.
Advice for Candidates During the Wait
The post-exam phase can feel stressful, especially with different unofficial keys showing slightly different scores. Many candidates worry whether their marks will drop or if they will just meet the cut-off.
The best approach is to stay calm and avoid over-checking multiple sources. Keep an eye on the official website for authentic updates. If your estimated score is comfortably above the qualifying line, start preparing documents for future job applications.
Even if the result does not go your way this time, CTET is held regularly, and many clear it on a second or third attempt with better preparation.
Thousands of teachers begin their careers through CTET every year. Hard work put in for this exam will not go waste.
