Lakhs of teaching aspirants across India are currently waiting for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to release the CTET Answer Key 2026. The board successfully conducted the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for Paper 1 and Paper 2 earlier this month.

🚨 Latest Update (27 February 2026): The CBSE is conducting a re-examination for specific Bihar centres on 1 March 2026. Because of this, the official answer key for all candidates has been slightly delayed. The board is now expected to release the combined answer keys for all sets by the second week of March. Candidates will be able to download their OMR sheets and PDFs directly from the links provided below once activated.

Candidates are now looking to download the official response sheets and question paper PDFs from the official website. The answer key is an important document. It allows you to calculate your raw score long before the final results are declared. Along with the provisional key, CBSE will also upload the scanned images of your OMR sheets. This means you can see the exact bubbles you marked inside the examination hall.

If you are waiting for the link to activate, here is everything you need to know about the release date, the downloading process, and the exact passing marks required to clear the exam.

Direct Links to Download CTET 2026 Answer Key PDF Once the board makes the links public, you can download your set-wise papers directly from the official portal. Save these links to check your scores:

  • Download CTET Paper 1 Answer Key 2026 PDF (Link to be activated soon)

  • Download CTET Paper 2 Answer Key 2026 PDF (Link to be activated soon)

  • CTET Official Login Portal for OMR Sheet

Why the CTET 2026 Answer Key is Delayed Usually, the CBSE releases the provisional answer key within 15 to 20 days of the exam. However, this year, the timeline has shifted slightly.

The board had to reschedule the exam for specific centres in Bihar to March 1. Because of this late examination, officials will compile the data for all candidates across the country only after this Sunday. Aspirants can expect the official CTET 2026 Answer Key PDF to drop by the second or third week of March.

How to Download CTET Official Answer Key 2026 The board will not send the answer key to your email or mobile number. You have to actively download it from the official portal. Finding the correct link on the CBSE website can sometimes be confusing.

Keep your admit card ready, as you will need your login credentials. Follow these exact steps to get your PDF:

  1. First, open your mobile browser or laptop and visit the official website at ctet.nic.in.

  2. Scroll down to the “Candidate Activity” section on the homepage.

  3. Look for the link that clearly says “View/Challenge Answer Key – CTET Feb 2026”. Click on it.

  4. A new login window will appear. Enter your official Roll Number and your Date of Birth.

  5. Click the login button.

  6. You will now see your dashboard. Click on the “Download Answer Key” button for your specific paper.

  7. Save the PDF to your device.

It is highly recommended to take a printout of the answer key and your OMR sheet so you can easily match the answers with a pen in hand.

How to download CTET Admit card 2026

Matching Your Paper Code and Set The CBSE board provides separate subject-wise and set-wise PDF links. In the exam hall, candidates received different question paper sets (like Set A, B, C, or D).

When you download the answer key, make sure you are checking the answers against the exact set code printed on your question paper. Checking Set A answers against a Set B question paper will give you a completely wrong score and create unnecessary panic.

The Big Confusion: Checking Language 1 and Language 2 Every year, thousands of students make a massive mistake while checking their CTET answer keys. This happens in the language sections.

The CTET paper has two language sections: Language 1 and Language 2. The main question paper booklet contains questions for English and Hindi for both Language 1 and Language 2.

  • If you chose English as Language 1, you must check the English questions from Q. 91 to Q. 120. Do not check the English questions starting from Q. 121.

  • If you chose Hindi as Language 2, you must check the Hindi questions from Q. 121 to Q. 150.

Always look at your admit card to confirm which language you selected for Part 1 and Part 2 before matching the official board answers.

How to Calculate Your CTET 2026 Score Once you have the official answer key and your scanned OMR sheet, calculating your score is very simple. You do not need any complex formulas.

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test does not have any negative marking. This is a huge advantage for candidates. Both Paper 1 (for Primary classes 1 to 5) and Paper 2 (for Elementary classes 6 to 8) consist of 150 multiple-choice questions.

  • For every correct answer that matches the official key, give yourself 1 mark.

  • For every incorrect answer, give yourself 0 marks.

  • For any question you left blank, give yourself 0 marks.

Simply count the total number of correct answers. If you got 105 answers right out of 150, your raw score is exactly 105.

CTET 2026 Qualifying Marks: Are You Safe? Calculating your score is only the first step. You need to know if that score is enough to get the eligibility certificate. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) sets strict minimum qualifying marks for the exam. The cut-off is fixed and depends entirely on your category.

  • General Category: The minimum passing percentage is 60%. This means you need to score at least 90 marks out of 150 to pass the exam.

  • OBC, SC, ST, and PwD Category: The government provides a relaxation of 5%. The passing percentage is 55%. You need to score at least 82 marks out of 150 to qualify.

If you score 89 as a General candidate, you will not qualify. If you score exactly 90, you are fully qualified.

Once you clear the exam, your CTET certificate is valid for a lifetime. You do not need to take the exam again unless you want to improve your score. You can use this certificate to apply for teaching jobs in central schools like Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), and various state government schools.

How to Challenge the CTET Provisional Answer Key

The answer key released in March will be provisional. This means it is a draft. The CBSE knows that sometimes official answers can be wrong.

If you check the answer key and find that an answer provided by the board is incorrect, you have the full right to challenge it. The board will provide a short window of two to three days to submit your objections online.

Do not send emails or physical letters to the CBSE office. They will only accept challenges through the official CTET Key Challenge link.

Steps to Submit an Objection

  1. Log in to the CTET portal using your roll number and date of birth.

  2. Click on the “Submit Key Challenge” link on your dashboard.

  3. A list of questions will appear. Select the exact Question Number you want to challenge.

  4. Choose the option that you believe is the correct answer.

  5. You must upload supporting documents. This is critical. The board only accepts proof from standard textbooks, mostly NCERT books. Do not upload screenshots from random websites or coaching institute notes.

  6. Pay the objection fee.

Fee Structure for Challenges The CBSE charges a high fee to prevent non-serious objections. You have to pay ₹1,000 for every single question you challenge. You can pay this via credit card, debit card, or net banking. If you challenge three questions, you have to pay ₹3,000.

However, there is a refund policy. If the subject matter experts at CBSE review your challenge and find that your claim is correct, the board will update the answer key and refund the ₹1,000 fee directly to the bank account used for the payment. Therefore, always use your own bank account or card to make this payment, not a cyber cafe owner’s account.

If your challenge is rejected, the fee will not be refunded.

What Happens Next? The Final Results Once the objection window closes, the real background work begins. A panel of subject matter experts will sit down and analyze every single challenge submitted by candidates across India. If they find valid errors, they will revise the answers.

Based on these corrections, the CBSE will prepare the Final Answer Key. No further objections will be allowed on this final document.

Following this, the board will process the results. Because the exam happened over multiple days and different shifts, the board might apply a normalization process. Normalization ensures fairness. It balances the scores if one paper was significantly harder than the other.

The final CTET 2026 Result will be declared directly on the official website. You will just need your roll number to check your final scorecard.

Getting Your Marksheet from DigiLocker CBSE stopped sending physical printed certificates years ago. Today, the entire process is digital and secure.

Within a few weeks of the result declaration, the board will send your official CTET Eligibility Certificate and marksheet directly to your DigiLocker account.

If you do not have a DigiLocker account, download the app on your phone. You must create an account using the exact mobile number that is linked to your Aadhaar card. The CBSE uses your Aadhaar details to push the certificate to your specific digital locker.

This digital certificate is legally valid everywhere in India. It comes with a secure QR code that schools and government departments can scan to verify your credentials instantly.

Keep a close watch on the official website through the second week of March. Keep your admit card safe, and ensure your internet connection is steady when the links finally go live.

Summary

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted the CTET 2026 (21st edition) Paper 1 and Paper 2 on February 7 and 8, 2026, for most candidates. However, Paper 2 was cancelled at two centres in Vaishali district, Bihar (Lakshya International Academy, Bardiha, Patepur and St. John’s Academy, Basmati Nagar) due to administrative/unavoidable circumstances. A re-examination for affected candidates at these centres is now scheduled for March 1, 2026. Revised admit cards for the re-exam are available (or will be soon) on the official portal.

Latest Updates

  • The provisional answer key has not yet been released.
  • Due to the pending re-exam, the release has been postponed — CBSE is expected to publish the provisional answer key (along with response sheets/scanned OMR sheets) only after the March 1 re-exam concludes successfully.
  • Expected timeline: First or second week of March 2026 (likely early to mid-March, shortly after re-exam processing).
  • Official website: ctet.nic.in — Check here for the latest notice (re-exam public notice dated February 24, 2026, is already posted). No answer key link is live yet.

Key Highlights:

  • Release Date: Provisional answer key expected in the first/second week of March 2026 at ctet.nic.in (post re-exam).
  • How to Download: Log in using your Application Number/Roll Number and Date of Birth. Download the set-wise provisional answer key PDF and your personal scanned response sheet/OMR sheet.
  • Qualifying Marks:
    • General Category:60% (90 out of 150 marks).
    • Reserved Categories (OBC/SC/ST/PwD):55% (82 out of 150 marks).
  • Objection Process: After the provisional key is released, a short window (usually 2–3 days, sometimes up to 5 days) will open for raising challenges. Fee: ₹1,000 per question (non-refundable in most cases, but refundable if the objection is upheld by subject experts). Submit objections online via the official portal.
  • Validity: The CTET certificate for qualified candidates remains valid for a lifetime (no expiry).

The final answer key will be published after reviewing objections, followed shortly by results and eligibility certificates issued via DigiLocker.

Tips for Candidates:

  • Regularly visit ctet.nic.in for any new public notices this is the only reliable source.
  • Affected candidates from the Vaishali centres: Download your revised admit card soon if not already done, and prepare for the March 1, 2026 re-exam.
  • Unofficial answer keys shared by coaching institutes are available online for rough score estimation, but wait for the official provisional key for accuracy.

Good luck to everyone especially those appearing for the re-exam! Stay updated directly from the official site. If anything changes, it will appear there first.
